Roger Waters is bringing The Wall here in February and a new revival of Evita is coming to New York in "Spring" when ever the hell that is. I find myself trolling Republicans and inspiring Democrats in between leaving witty comments on the Evita site. But sometimes the inspiration, the trolling and the wit gets mixed up and it all comes out as verbal diarhoe. So I thought I'd set up a seperate entity specifically for my ramblings about Broadway. The weird thing is the focus of the ramblings are 3 characters from English musicals. I've been thinking about Evita a lot lately with the the new revival due to open in about 6 months. Then last week I saw a hour long doco/infomercial on Roger Waters touring the wall. This led me to consider the obsession I have with 3 great English musicals and the similarities between them.
Tommy was released in 1969 by the Who and was mostly composed by Pete Townshend. Evita was released 7 years later in 1976 lyrics by Tim Rice and Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The Wall by Pink Floyd was released in 1979.
